Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Zeta Tau Alpha's philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education & Awareness, and our chapter enjoys fundraising for this great cause throughout the school year. Gamma Omicron puts on various events during the year to promote our philanthropy and raise funds for Breast Cancer Education & Awareness. The month of October kicked off these events with our annual “Think Pink” Week. It was during this week that the chapter passed out pink ribbons and held many different fundraising events. On Monday we kicked off the week by selling cupcakes, cotton candy, chocolate covered pretzels at Fabiano Gardens. We also passed our stickers and the schedule for the week. "Smash Cancer" was on Tuesday where fraternity members could come to the ZTA house and donate money to smash pumpkins! We also had donuts and cider for sale. We had a photo challenge as well! On Wednesday we had an ice cream sundae bar called “Sundaes for Survivors” which was held at 1018 Franklin. On Thursday we had "Best Chest" and Friday was the last day, which was the Best Man on Campus Pageant in Pearce 127. We helped to bring the overall total of funds raised to over $7,000. In the Spring time, we have a 5k run and raise money all semester for it. This past year we raised about $24,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education! Along with that, we had a speaker come to visit, Zumba dancing, Red-bull sponsoring it, PINK also sponsoring it, a lovely brunch AND some sisters from Ferris State came to visit!! All in all, it was a great weekend of sisters and accomplishment.
At Zeta Day, held in Lansing this year, the four Michigan collegiate chapters, as well as the Michigan Alumna chapters, came together to recognize those chapters for their hard work and success over the past year.
